CULLMANN supports kayak expedition to the North Pole

22. February 2010

Jürgen Schütte's idea of exploring the island world of Spitsbergen by canoe excited us straightaway. The avid globetrotter from the Ruhr area describes his plan as follows:

"We want to circumnavigate the island of Spitsbergen and the eastern island of Nordaustlandet by canoe. The weather will play an important role in this. In cold summers, sometimes the north and east of the island does not thaw, and so is surrounded by pack ice. In such cases, a complete circumnavigation is impossible. A late thaw would also force us to change the route. For the total distance of around 2000 km, we will need around 80-90 days of paddling. We are also scheduling another 40 to 50 days on top of that as a buffer, in the event of bad weather conditions or other difficulties."

CULLMANN will be supporting the expedition with various tripods, tripod heads and tripod accessories, as well as a photo backpack (see product list). We are very excited about this extraordinary canoe trip and we wish Jürgen Schütte and Heike Robinson a successful expedition with lots of fascinating images.
